a big 2" Lisa Peters Art cab beaded in grey moss and copper artbeads beads
it has both pendant and brooch bail
i love this cab and it really makes a big and bold statement
it is set off center on purpose
i am slowly getting the hang of doing these and i want to try to be a little bolder with stiches~practice practice ;)

new brooch~using a LPA shank button~

this is a Lisa Peters Art shank button~
i was having a hard time beading around this button because of its shape~i just could not get it to sit right~being both concave on the top and convex on the bottom
it caused me a lot of frustration UNTIL i pulled out one of my trusty beading books~(thank you~YOU know who you are :D)
to refresh some ideas~ and realized i had these oh so cool artbeads toho 4mm dark plum iris squares!
the height of the beads allowed me to layer a nice wall
this is a chunky and heavy pin!
definitely made for a coat lapel
of course the brilliant color of both the button and beads just don't show~
but finally i am happy to be able to concur this beautiful button and am now waiting for more artbeads to redo the other shank button i have
still can't decide if i am going to add a fringe to it yet~
and since i have the flu right now~ yuck!!!
me thinks i will have to wait to make that decision just a bit longer ~
and a winters mess on the way for the next few days i really hope its all snow ;D

if my idiot neighbor did not cut down the beautiful pines maybe the barn owl would be here still and mom nature could take its course~barn owls are the only owl to catch this large vermin
damn thing gives me the shivers and it has to be delt with before gardening time comes

today is my son jordans 28th birthday :D
while i am here in ct. and he lives in vermont
i miss him very much and feel a bit guilty not
being able to spend some time with him on his day
i had an ice cream cake sent to him-his all time favorite!
and i know he has a birthday weekend full of snowboarding
with the guys
on the majestic slopes of vermont

and after suffering simons loss in june of 09 i wanted it even more

a beaded cab brooch~
the cab is lisapetersart~god i just love her work!
i am not sure about this one~my beading that is~
i can not get the fringe to hang right....so after cleaning the house (ugh) today the plan is to try and redo the fringe and i would love new green beads more of a moss color all i had were the ones used and chartruse-lol and that would not of worked at all~i love the glass 'stone looking' drop beads from art beads :)

and saw her post with orchids-i decided i want one tooooo!
the day i brought her home ( her name is gladys)
was frigid cold and i think the cold may of given her a bit of a shock and within days she dropped all her new buds :(
but i think she will be all right-its an ice orchid-to water her all you do is add three ice cubes a week and thats it!!

i saw this under the snow laden picnic table this morning....something is living in the knee high snow and has a burrow in the snow that has drifted under the table-
they are two different holes-i am thinking entrance and escape holes....
i put crushed corn chips down to see if i could entice it out and see what it is so far it hasn't shown its self-i may have to try something sweeter or some bird seed-
now if its just a mole or deer mouse thats fine with me but i am thinking that the holes are just too big....and lisa if you are reading this you know what i think it is....again....
i'll give the rest of you a hit-3 letters and rhymes with cat.....if it is what i think it is i am going to have an all out FIT!!
one was here early this fall -came out of the drain at the end of my driveway and was quickly caught and disposed of
i love all creatures but if its back this time it will not be driven away and released it will have to meet its doom and i have no problem doing that!
its just another reason that i am sad about the pines being gone-a beautiful barn owl roosted there and would hunt the deer mice and moles at night and its the only owl that will catch this vermin-i just hope its not what i am thinking it is....

on a brighter note it is a spectacular first day of winter here-the sky is a brilliant blue~we have a 8" blanket of snow on the ground and the wind is howling and blowing the snow into fantastic dervishs and its cold cold cold maybe 20 but i would say into the teens or even single digits with the wind factor-i have my bedroom window open the air smells so fresh and clean-i so love the winter-thanks mom nature

i have heard my bead whispering to me for quite awhile now
and finally i gave in to their taunts and decided to do something to quiet them~
this is a WIP~
the stunning cab ~click it to see it better~ was made by the oh so talented lisa peters
its big almost 2"
there is more i want to do to it
right now i find its a bit boring but it feels good to have needle in hand and see the beauty of my beads again
note to self
try to remember the best setting on the camera for beadwork~
to use ultra suede and not real suede to back it-real suede is hard on the needle,and so very very hard on the hands!!

and thought i would try the cubic right angle weave stitch~

i found a great video on 'how to' on bead and button but i have to tell you that after hours and i do mean hours for the last two days i still can not get it to go right???? i am missing something here and i can't figure it out-maybe that tiny little step is missing in the video?? not sure-i can get the 3 bead and 2bead and the next 2 bead addition but when it comes to the next step i just can not figure out which bead to pick up?? i have watched the video a gazillion times....sigh....but i hope to keep trying

one thing i can say is my 'new glasses' are not strong enough!!

ok so who had the brilliant idea of painting anyway?? and who knew once i started to put fresh
paint on that the ceiling and walls were so disgusting?? eeewwww!!
i didn't dare take pics of one corner of the ceiling
before the new paint covered it
just to embrassing!
the wall color does not really show the true color
the top is more of a buttery yellow while the bottom under the chair rail is an interesting color~it changes shade with the light of the day
sometimes its a blue-green and during the afternoon-a deeper green and towards dusk it takes on a gray-green color i like it
and i will be so happy when the ceiling is done
i swear i would rather have a root canal than paint the ceiling!!

sure needed fresh paint!!
and the ceiling is old and uneven during different times of the day shadows are thrown making it so very difficult to paint and its taking two coats as well
i will be so happy to have it done..sigh... :)

spring is coming altho its only about

45 out i want to grab a shovel a rake and take to the garden but its much to early yet~march is not a month to be trusted around here....

i have no idea why there is a huge blank space on my blog? blogger seemed a bit wonky today so i will blame them~ if you are looking for the full page of posts keep scrolling..... or better yet if you can tell me how to fix it i would appreciate it :)

paper pulp hearts~
i sent the newspaper into the blender added some salt to keep the mold at bay and used a candy mold to make the hearts and let them dry over the heat register now to add some paint to them and see what happens some of the hearts are just raw paper mache ~the whiter ones are gesso'd and some have a little paper clay added~and yes that is barb'd wire~they are not ment to be cute hearts i hope to get to work on them soon

the arrival of mocking birds~

the mob!! (ignore the neighbors house)~their lawn was full of starlings~red winged black birds and grackles~i call them the mob when they show up~they take over the bird feeders~splash in the bird bath 4 or 5 at a time till most of the water is gone and make a huge racket~then they all take off in one huge swarm of birds

blatant thievery of pussy willows brought in the house and forcing the catkins out~

one day to the next~
