northern flickers

there has been alot of these guys this year~more than i have ever seen~i am fond of these birds~members of the woodpecker family~altho you can't see it in the pic there is a bright almost a triangle of red on the nape of their necks~there were three sitting on the fence by the bird feeder which suprised me because they feed on insects in the ground and in tree bark~they make the most wonderful sound~loud~kind of like letting me know they are out there~ahh the love of mom nature ;)

Hi Tammy,

We have Flickers here as well and I love them so much! Thanks for sharing the photo with us. If I hear one in my yard, I'll try and get a photo for you.

Nature is GRAND.

Beadily yours

Great photo --- I'll have to keep a close eye out for our Flickers -- these seem a different shape -- love the patch of red.
